A TRIBUTE TO
Lois Bond: Co-founder of CHIP International
Feb. 15, 1942 to Nov.30, 2019
We recently lost one of the Co-founders of CHIP International, Lois Bond, in an unexpected and sudden death on Nov. 30, 2019.
Lois initiated the paperwork for a 501©3 for CHIP(Child Heath Improvement Program) International as a continuation of hers and Kathleen Kuhlman’s CHIP (Children’s Home Intervention Program) in New York which was dedicated to work with children with autism.
Lois always was there to offer advice, encouragement and financial assistance when she could. She loved Senegal and visited many times over the years. We are naming the Regional Center on Evaluation, Education, Training, Research and Advocacy we will build in honor of her legacy in working with children with special needs .
She was a high-standard professional and her devotion to children was bountiful. Strongly supportive of the parents and her team, and truly compassionate, she was always eager to learn new ways to improve her work. Her studies took her beyond the Masters degree to Ph.D. courses to increase her knowledge on research in the field of ABA – Applied Behavior Analysis – which she pioneered in the Early Intervention program in home therapy and then in a Center which catered to the child with autism. The 150 well-trained therapists and hundreds of children and families she and Kathie touched in so many ways will never be forgotten.
Lois was my sister and she has left a void in my heart.
